DESTINY | AI-powered innovation

Next generation evidence tools for climate and health

DESTINY is a global collaboration building AI-powered tools to accelerate and optimise evidence synthesis for decision-making for urgent climate and health challenges.

We’re creating the infrastructure, technologies, and test cases to supercharge evidence-to-action pipelines – designed for speed, equity, and real-world impact.

Challenge

Urgent solutions for evolving crises

Climate change is rapidly intensifying public health threats – from food insecurity and infectious disease to mental health and heat-related illness. The consequences are vast, interconnected, and quickly evolving.

We need solutions that move as fast as the problem: evidence systems that are current, responsive, and actionable. DESTINY is developing the infrastructure and tools to make this possible.

Approach

Supercharging evidence-to-impact pipelines

DESTINY uses artificial intelligence to transform how we synthesise evidence for climate and health.

Our Digital Evidence Synthesis Tools (DESTs) are designed to:

Automate synthesis while preserving rigor and transparency

Reconfigure human-machine collaboration for better decision support

Deliver faster, more responsive guidance for policy and programs

The ALIVE DIFFERENCE

Tailored to meet urgent, real-world needs

Alive will support the safe and responsible application of DESTs in six communities of practice to showcase that these tools are fit-for-purpose in climate and health, work for diverse users, and deliver real-world impacts.

Cases 1 & 2

Country decision-makers, implementers, and technical leads who define our priorities and shape how we package and share evidence.

Cases 3-6

Produce rigorous, living systematic reviews to support fast, evidence-based decisions that unlock health benefits of climate action.

Alive leads key workstreams focused on co-production, usability and equity – ensuring these tools support those delivering solutions on the ground.

PARTNERS

Leaders in research, tech, policy, and philanthropy

DESTINY is led by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), with partners across research, technology, and policy. Alive plays a central role in shaping the tools and strategies that make digital evidence work for decision-makers.

Our international team includes 45 members from nine institutions, collaborating with partners across more than 30 organisations. The consortium is led by Jan Minx at PIK and funded by Wellcome.

Together, we’re building the next generation of AI-powered evidence synthesis tools—designed to deliver rigorous, living evidence that matters to policymakers and communities alike.
