Ensuring evidence is useful and used

The Alliance for Living Evidence (Alive) is a global network of people and organisations developing a partnership approach to synthesising and using evidence and data.

We come from across the evidence ecosystem including from evidence synthesis collaborations such as Cochrane, Campbell and JBI, from evidence intermediary organisations such as Instituto Veredas in Brazil and the Pan-African Collective for Evidence in South Africa, and from international bodies including the Global Evidence Commission and the World Bank.

We invite you to join us in our commitment to develop and test a new approach to evidence synthesis and use: living evidence partnerships.

Our commitment

We acknowledge the need for transformation in the world’s evidence systems to provide decision-makers with trustworthy, high-quality evidence that is radically more timely, relevant, and affordable.

We come together as the Alliance for Living Evidence (Alive) because we recognise the potential for living evidence partnerships to contribute to this transformation.

We commit to supporting the development and testing of living evidence partnerships with five key characteristics:
1. Useful: Driven by the needs of decision-makers and their advisors
2. Fair: Prioritising equity in what we do, how we do it, and whom we do it for
3. Collaborative: Creating common understanding and drive aligned action
4. Dynamic: Using living evidence and technology to be responsive and up-to-date
5. Efficient: Producing evidence once and using it many times

We call on other organisations and individuals to join us in developing and testing living evidence partnerships.
